Art that Blooms - Call for Writers, Poets, and Floral Arrangers.

All those interested are invited to participate as poets/writers and floral designers in our 2011 Art that Blooms exhibit.

Here's the story- artists enter a piece of their original art (could be painting, sculpture, carving, photograph, quilt, etc.) Then poets or writers choose one of the pieces of art (actually they get a digital image of the art) and write a poem or reflection (under 500 words) inspired by the art. And then.. floral arrangers choose one of the pieces of art and create a fresh floral arrangement inspired by the art.

All of these come together for an exhibit here at the Portage Center for the Arts the weekend of June 10, 2011. Depending on the amount of poetry/reflections we receive we may frame the poems/ reflections and hang them with the artwork or we may create a booklet or we may choose a selection of the poems/ reflections to exhibit. We may also ask the authors to come and read their work if they would like to.

The art for 2011 has already been chosen and we can email the images to you or supply them to you on a disk. The deadline for submitting poetry is May 15, 2011. Call the Center office for more information at 608-742-5655. Hours: Wed-Fri 1-6pm, Sat 10-3pm
