The performers will go about their 19th-century lives in costume and in character all of Saturday, with special historic demonstrations, activities, and museum house tours scheduled throughout the day. At 9AM, 11:30AM, 1PM, and 4PM, catch a musket shooting demonstration. At 10:30AM, join us for a discussion of 19th -Century medicine (intriguingly titled “The Amusing and Macabre”), featuring author and historian Mr. Mark Tully. Mr. Tully will regale us with information and anecdotes about the practice of medical care in the 1800s, including bloodletting and the use of leeches. Finally, jump on a guided tour of the Agency House at 9AM, noon, or 3PM (nominal fee applies for tour).
Between scheduled activities, visitors are encouraged to mingle with our historic guests—or just stroll about, taking in the sites of open-air cooking, wool spinning and a variety of other sights you just won’t see anywhere else.
The participating reeneactors are experienced educators with an interest specifically in the 1830s era. And they can’t wait to share their knowledge with you!
This event is free to the public, except for the guided Agency House tours for which there is a minimal fee.
