The Historic Indian Agency House in Portage, Wisconsin invites you to join us on Saturday, May 26 from 10AM to 4PM as we celebrate the opening of our newest site addition—a 1.2 mile Nature Trail!
Be among the first to walk this beautiful trail FOR FREE, with bottled water and snacks also provided for our guests. (Regularly a nominal fee or proof of membership is required.) This primitive trail circles the forested “island” behind the 1832 Agency House, with views of the surrounding marshland and central open prairie ground and the opportunity to catch a glimpse of a wide variety of wildlife and birds.
Not since it opened in 1932 as a public attraction has this portion of the Agency Houses' 220 acres been open to the public---come see what you've been missing. With the volunteer help of Portage’s Fresh Start and Pardeeville High School’s Honor Society, the trail is marked and ready for our nature- and fitness-loving friends. But be sure to stop in the Stone Visitor’s Center first, as sign-in and sign-out is mandatory for all trail users.
Hope to see you soon. Bring the whole family..and your walkin' shoes!
