The great naturalist John Muir succeeded in influencing powerful people to take action to preserve great tracts of wilderness in the United States, but he didn't do so by himself. When he was a boy growing up in Marquette County, WI, the landscapes and the people around him shaped his view of the world and supported him in his quest to explore the wilderness that he so loved. In her presentation, Ms. McGwin will take you into the schools, farms and lives of those who lived near the Muir family, those who made up the settler neighborhood of mostly immigrants and some Yankees.Date and Time
