There is magic in the air, and a whole lot more! World-traveled variety entertainer and illusionist, Timothy Noel Tegge and his lovely assistant, Barbara, will take to the stage of the Portage Center for the Arts for one performance only, on Sunday afternoon, October 13, at 4:00 PM. Internationally known as the "Master of Mystification,"
Tegge’s show is a contemporary mix of traditional magic and classic vaudeville, honoring the timeless traditions of everyone from Houdini to Ed Sullivan.
Raised in a show business family, Timothy’s father was a clown who later operated his own traveling circus for twenty-five years. It was there that Tegge learned and perfected his craft, closely observing the top novelty entertainers of the day.
“My passion for the circus has always governed my career in previous years.” said Timothy Tegge in a recent network television interview, “but the desire to go beyond that [the circus], however, captivated me. I knew that I would incorporate my circus abilities throughout the program, but I wanted something more, as well. I have always been an admirer of the celebrated variety artists of both circus and vaudeville, and was also very impressed with early visual rock shows staged and presented by artists like David Bowie and Peter Gabriel. All of these influences, and many others, went into the planning stages of my ninety-minute program. There truly is something for everyone -- and for all ages -- from the time it begins, through to the final curtain call; it's a very family-friendly show.”
Tegge randomly selects members of the audience everywhere he performs. He may make them levitate, or simply assist him in any number of situations, magical or comedic.
