In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Historic Indian Agency House is hosting a 4-part speaker series exploring military engagements of the 19th century and their connection to and impact on Wisconsin history.
Installment 3 of 4:
Peter Shrake, M.A., discusses Wisconsin's contributions and sacrifices to the Civil War, with an emphasis on the famous (and infamous) soldiers and officers of Ft. Winnebago at the portage who went on to Civil War fame -- including the legendary Jefferson Davis, and Portage's own Colonel Joshua Guppy.
