Portage Reality Fair

The Portage Reality Fair is an interactive, real-life simulation designed to help high school students build practical financial and decision-making skills for adulthood. Hosted at Portage High School, this hands-on event connects students with local businesses, organizations, and community volunteers who guide them through everyday budgeting choices like banking, housing, transportation, food, insurance, childcare, and more.

Each student has career, income, and life scenario and is then challenged to manage their monthly expenses while making thoughtful choices about spending and saving. The experience offers a powerful look at real-world responsibilities while reinforcing the importance of planning, financial literacy, and community support.

The Reality Fair is made possible through partnerships with local Chamber members and community volunteers who help bring real-life perspectives into the classroom and support the next generation as they prepare for life beyond high school.
