Portage Center for the Arts is looking to add a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to our team! Prior experience managing volunteers is desirable! Must be available to work weekends and evenings. Please email a letter of interest and resume to info@portagecenterforthearts.com.

Status: Non-exempt
Pay: $15/hour
Date: March 2026 – Immediate Opening
Schedule: Second/Fourth/Fifth Friday 1-6pm, Second/Fourth/Fifth Saturday 10am-3pm, (approx.
20-25 hours per month, plus additional evening and weekend hours needed to cover events)

Position Summary:

  • Proactively recruit and onboard new volunteers to fill specific organizational needs;
  • Develop, organize, and lead orientation sessions to ensure volunteers are prepared;
  • Match volunteers with appropriate tasks, manage scheduling, and coordinate coverage for events, supervising or working events as needed to mentor and provide coverage;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing support, addressing conflicts, and ensuring they feel valued.
  • Maintain accurate databases, tracking volunteer hours, skills, and contact information.
  • Plan and execute recognition events or initiatives to retain volunteers.
  • Work with staff and Board members to identify, plan, and implement volunteer tasks.
  • Open/close building, including office and gallery (theatre as necessary for events) during scheduled work times;
  • Greet public, answer questions in person and via phone, take messages;
  • Handle box office duties: ticket sales, payment, seat assignments or registration for workshops;
  • Assist with administrative duties described below.
